What if every task was a portal to divine service?
We are not meant to labor aimlessly. We are meant to weave legacies of brilliance and wonder. What if every task was more than just an item on a list? What if it was a luminous thread in the tapestry of our destiny?
As a mother with a both a mission and a toddler in need of my deep devotion, these are the questions bubbling up from my soul these days. They're the kind of questions that ask to be asked - the kind that precede paradigm shifts and upend our neat reality and reasonable explanations - the kind of questions that unleash avalanches and make us head north. How do we do the thing? How do we make all things the one thing? How do we do ourselves?
Enter: The Holy Task Matrix
The reverence created in my life by adapting this holy framework has allowed me to drop into work sessions with focus, creativity and clarity - and the confidence that daily tasks will all still get done. This is not just another beautify-your-to-do-list strategy to give you a false sense of productivity when you feel overwhelmed or uninspired. It's a way to turn ordinary tasks into acts of sacred devotion.
See here's the thing – productivity isn’t just action. It’s alchemy. Your touch transforms the mundane into the eternal. Read on for a ritual to craft each task of your day into a act of devotion.
Step 1: Divide your tasks into 4 divine realms.
Soul-Aligned Missions: The work that directly serves your highest calling. This is your gold. Protect it. Nurture it. Give it your fullest power.
Blessings in Progress: The sacred projects dreaming within you. They are seedlings of vision, waiting for your cultivation.
Sacred Maintenance: The humble rituals of daily life that sustain your vessel. Make them beautiful. Make them worthy of your presence.
Illusions of Obligation: Shadows disguised as duties. Release them, for they siphon the vitality needed for your true work.
Categorize your tasks by their true worth. Honor the sacred, simplify the necessary, release the false.
Step 2: The Invocation of Alignment
Before you begin your work, light a candle, take 3 deep breaths, and declare: “I choose to act from clarity and divine alignment. May my work serve the highest good.” Visualize your tasks shimmering with purpose, each one a vessel of sacred potential. Your energy is the conduit - the bridge between inspiration and creation.
Step 3: Sacred Batching & Focused Flow
Combine your tasks based on their realm:
Work on Soul-Aligned Missions first. Pour your brilliance into what matters most.
Dedicate deep work sessions to Blessings in Progress. Let these be days of pure creation, but only when you feel inspired and there's nothing that needs immediate tending for your Soul-Aligned Mission.
Ritualize Sacred Maintenance tasks. Infuse beauty into the mundane with music, prayer, or movement.
Release the Illusions of Obligation without guilt. To refuse the false is an act of power.
Work isn’t meant to drain you. It’s meant to enchant you.
Step 4: Completion Ritual
Completion is necessary and it should be prioritized and celebrated. I often select micro tasks I know I can complete in the amount of time I have available that day. The act of completing the task creates forward momentum, no matter how small or seemingly mundane the task. When you're closing out a work session for the day, express gratitude for the time, energy and creativity made available to you. Let the echoes of your work ripple out to those who await it. Close your work time with a prayer:
“May my efforts bless those who need them. May this work be a gift of light."
What if your productivity could feel like a sanctuary of divine creation? You are here to build something extraordinary.
